Summer School
Ammaia’s Archaeological Summer School (summer semester)

Located in a beautiful national park, there is a Roman town to be unveiled. Embedded in the luxuriant nature, in an ancient land with a rich past of culture and gastronomy, it lies in the intersection of the roads coming from important cities of the Roman Empire: Mérida, the capital of the province of Lusitania, Évora, Cáceres and Lisbon.

A one or two month’s intensive program on practical field archaeology - survey, excavation, artefact classification and principles of field conservation techniques - at the Roman town of Ammaia (Marvão, Alto Alentejo), using both the museum and laboratory of Ammaia’s Foundation as support institutions, besides de ruins of the Roman urban area in its self.

Two summer schools held in July and September.
